Flower City Communications supplies and installs
wireless communications equipment and infrastructure to a variety of customers
with complex and specialized needs.
Flower City is a dealer of Motorola and Harris RF radios. Flower City gets involved with the
installation of such products in fleets of vehicles for municipal and
commercial use. We also get involved
with installing security cameras, license plate readers, door access control
systems and much more in the communications and security space.

Basic Function
We are looking for qualified individuals that can
install cameras and two-way radios into vehicles, and into commercial buildings. The individual will be comfortable working
with low voltage electronics and 12V electricity in a vehicle. Some work is
done is cramped spaces (inside of a vehicle), some work is done on ladders and
higher locations. This person will be
good at taking direction and able to work productively and safely with a team.
Work hours: M-F, 8am-4:30pm
Responsibilities
- To work in the field for radio and radio system installations and
repair in a professional matter
- Install mobile 2-way radios into commercial vehicles
- Install security cameras into commercial buildings and license
plate reader cameras in exterior locations.
- Work with other technicians in the use and theory of operation of
both the test equipment and the equipment being tested
- Be committed to helping install new items that our customers surprise
us with. Research specifications
when needed and help to install and repair said equipment
- Provide on-call service of customer equipment as required
- Employee will be required to provide their own basic tools- a list
of those tools will be provided, of what is expected. Specialized tools
will be provided by employer.
Skills
- Knowledge of electronics test equipment
- Basic understanding of hand tools and small power tools
- Ability to diagnose both electronic and mechanical issues
- Comfort with 12V electricity and comfort working inside of a
vehicle
- Ability to use Microsoft Office products, such as Word and
Excel. Also, comfortable learning
the Flower City Communications CRM tool (ConnectWise).
Education/Training
Completion
of high school, GED or equivalent work experience
Experience
- Proof of a solid track record with a previous employer,
- We are looking for somebody that is driven and motivated to excel
- 3+ years Service Technician experience in diagnosing, repairing,
programming, and installing Motorola, Kenwood and/or Harris equipment in
the 2-way radio wireless and /or communication field is a plus, but also
any field service technician experience is looked upon favorably.
- Knowledge/understanding of 2-way radio theory, RF propagation
characteristics at various frequency bands and communications systems is a
plus.
- Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and diagrams is a plus.
- Security Clearance will be needed for a variety of clients. A
clean background check and drivers license will be required.
